Island to Global (I2G) is a joint program between V-Lab and PACER+ aimed at supporting a number of locally owned businesses to export their products and services. I2G is funded by the Governement of Australia.
The primary objective of this program was to identify and support 5 small Ni-Vanuatu owned businesses which are either already exporting goods or services to Australia or New-Zealand or who are on the path to exporting these good and services. These businesses have been supported with an extensive package of support and have been accompanied during 15 months in the acceleration journey.

The Island to Global (I2G) program, funded by the Australian Government and implemented by V-Lab with PACER Plus, supported Ni-Vanuatu businesses in becoming export-ready. Launched in September 2024, the 15-month initiative assisted five enterprises through training, certification, coaching, and international exposure. The program emphasized that businesses must first succeed locally before expanding globally. It distinguished between export preparedness (strong domestic operations) and export readiness (having the right product, market, and team). Key lessons included the importance of focusing resources on high-potential, committed businesses rather than spreading support too widely. The program identified two major gaps in Vanuatu’s export ecosystem: local product aggregation and in-market representation abroad. Proper sequencing—capacity building, relationship development, then market targeting—is critical for export success. Challenges such as limited scale, inconsistent supply, lack of market information, and insufficient working capital remain significant barriers. Overall, the program calls for a coordinated, market-driven export support system that integrates training, financing, logistics, and partnerships to sustainably position Ni-Vanuatu businesses on the global stage.
